Melbourne Cup Bets - Learn What They Are

Are you planning on going to the Melbourne Cup with hopes of coming out ahead in the betting department? This is what many people plan on doing and in some cases some of them will win and win big. When dealing with horse races something you need to know is what the different bets are and how they work in order for you to win.

Before I get to the different types of bets I first want to make sure you understand how the payouts go. What you need to understand is that you will be paid based on the spread but all of the numbers are not released to people until close to the race. Just a quick example is if you bet $25 on a horse that is favored 4:1 then you will win $100 if that horse wins. So in order to get this spread it will all depend o what horses ar racing, how many of them are racing and other factors like that. The reason you need to know the spread is because if a horse is not favored to win then you will make more money if you bet on them and they win.

Types Of Bettings

Basic

Win bet – Out of all the wagers this is the easiest to remember, if your horse wins then you win. The nice thing about this is you know how you win and that is why most people start off betting using this exact method.

Place bet – The nice thing about this bet is you have a better shot of winning. There has to be at least 8 horses racing and if the horse that you picked comes in the top 3 then you win.

Each way bet – This is one bet that some people just don’t understand but what you need to know is that an each way bet is simply a win and place bet in one.

Exotic

Quinella – If you are in love with 2 horses then you don’t have to decide between the two, you can take them both using a Quinella bet which means they have to come in first and second.

Trifecta – This wager is won by picking the winner, the second place, and third place horse in one single race.

Multi-race Bet

Quaddie – This wager is simply where you choose the winning horses of the last 4 races of the day.

There are a lot of different ways that you can wager your money so the odds of you winning at least 1 race are rather high. Just know that in order to place good wagers you should wait for the Melbourne Cup Sweep to come out.
